brahma ha devebhyo vijigye tasya ha brahmaṇo vijaye devā amahīyanta ta aikṣantāsmākamevāyaṁ vijayo'smākamevāyaṁ mahimeti ॥ 1 ॥
brahma ha devebhyo vijigye ।
‘avijñātaṁ vijānatāṁ vijñātamavijānatām’ (ke. u. 2 । 3) ityādiśravaṇāt yadasti tadvijñātaṁ pramāṇaiḥ yannāsti tadavijñātaṁ śaśaviṣāṇakalpamatyantamevāsaddṛṣṭam । tathedaṁ brahmāvijñātatvādasadeveti mandabuddhīnāṁ vyāmoho mā bhūditi tadartheyamākhyāyikā ārabhyate । tadeva hi brahma sarvaprakāreṇa praśāstṛ devānāmapi paro devaḥ, īśvarāṇāmapi parameśvaraḥ, durvijñeyaḥ, devānāṁ jayahetuḥ, asurāṇāṁ parājayahetuḥ ; tatkathaṁ nāstītyetasyārthasyānukūlāni hyuttarāṇi vacāṁsi dṛśyante । athavā brahmavidyāyāḥ stutaye । katham ? brahmavijñānāddhi agnyādayo devā devānāṁ śreṣṭhatvaṁ jagmuḥ । tato'pyatitarāmindra iti । athavā durvijñeyaṁ brahmetyetatpradarśyate — yenāgnyādayo'titejaso'pi kleśenaiva brahma viditavantastathendro devānāmīśvaro'pi sanniti । vakṣyamāṇopaniṣadvidhiparaṁ vā sarvam । brahmavidyāvyatirekeṇa prāṇināṁ kartṛtvabhoktṛtvādyabhimāno mithyetyetaddarśanārthaṁ vā ākhyāyikā, yathā devānāṁ jayādyabhimānastadvaditi । brahma yathoktalakṣaṇaṁ paraṁ ha kila devebhyo'rthāya vijigye jayaṁ labdhavat devānāmasurāṇāṁ ca saṅgrāme'surāñjitvā jagadarātīnīśvaraseturbhettṝn devebhyo jayaṁ tatphalaṁ ca prāyacchajjagataḥ sthemne । tasya ha kila brahmaṇo vijaye devāḥ agnyādayaḥ amahīyanta mahimānaṁ prāptavantaḥ । tadā ātmasaṁsthasya pratyagātmana īśvarasya sarvajñasya sarvakriyāphalasaṁyojayituḥ prāṇināṁ sarvaśakteḥ jagataḥ sthitiṁ cikīrṣoḥ ayaṁ jayo mahimā cetyajānantaḥ te devāḥ aikṣanta īkṣitavantaḥ agnyādisvarūpaparicchinnātmakṛtaḥ asmākamevāyaṁ vijayaḥ asmākamevāyaṁ mahimā agnivāyvindratvādilakṣaṇo jayaphalabhūto'smābhiranubhūyate nāsmatpratyagātmabhūteśvarakṛta iti ॥
taddhaiṣāṁ vijajñau tebhyo ha prādurbabhūva tanna vyajānata kimidaṁ yakṣamiti ॥ 2 ॥
evaṁ mithyābhimānekṣaṇavatāṁ tat ha kila eṣāṁ mithyekṣaṇaṁ vijajñau vijñātavadbrahma । sarvekṣitṛ hi tat sarvabhūtakaraṇaprayoktṛtvāt devānāṁ ca mithyājñānamupalabhya maivāsuravaddevā mithyābhimānātparābhaveyuriti tadanukampayā devānmithyābhimānāpanodanenānugṛhṇīyāmiti tebhyaḥ devebhyaḥ ha kila arthāya prādurbabhūva svayogamāhātmyanirmitenātyadbhutena vismāpanīyena rūpeṇa devānāmindriyagocare prādurbabhūva prādurbhūtavat । tat prādurbhūtaṁ brahma na vyajānata naiva vijñātavantaḥ devāḥ kimidaṁ yakṣaṁ pūjyaṁ mahadbhūtamiti ॥
te'gnimabruvan jātaveda etadvijānīhi kimetadyakṣamiti tatheti ॥ 3 ॥
tadabhyadravattamabhyavadat ko'sītyagnirvā ahamasmītyabravījjātavedā vā ahamasmīti ॥ 4 ॥
tasmiṁstvayi kiṁ vīryamityapīdaṁ sarvaṁ daheyaṁ yadidaṁ pṛthivyāmiti ॥ 5 ॥
tasmai tṛṇaṁ nidadhāvetaddaheti tadupapreyāya sarvajavena tanna śaśāka dagdhuṁ sa tata eva nivavṛte naitadaśakaṁ vijñātuṁ yadetadyakṣamiti ॥ 6 ॥
te tadajānanto devāḥ sāntarbhayāstadvijijñāsavaḥ agnim agragāminaṁ jātavedasaṁ sarvajñakalpam abruvan uktavantaḥ । he jātavedaḥ etat asmadgocarasthaṁ yakṣaṁ vijānīhi viśeṣato budhyasva tvaṁ nastejasvī kimetadyakṣamiti । tathā astu iti tat yakṣam abhi adravat tatprati gatavānagniḥ । taṁ ca gatavantaṁ pipṛcchiṣuṁ tatsamīpe'pragalbhatvāttūṣṇīmbhūtaṁ tadyakṣam abhyavadat agniṁ prati abhāṣata ko'sīti । evaṁ brahmaṇā pṛṣṭo'gniḥ abravīt agnirvai agnirnāmāhaṁ prasiddho jātavedā iti ca nāmadvayena prasiddhatayātmānaṁ ślāghayanniti । evamuktavantaṁ brahmāvocat tasmin evaṁ prasiddhaguṇanāmavati tvayi kiṁ vīryaṁ sāmarthyam iti । so'bravīt idaṁ jagat sarvaṁ daheyaṁ bhasmīkuryāṁ yat idaṁ sthāvarādi pṛthivyām iti । pṛthivyāmityupalakṣaṇārtham , yato'ntarikṣasthamapi dahyata evāgninā । tasmai evamabhimānavate brahma tṛṇaṁ nidadhau puro'gneḥ sthāpitavat । brahmaṇā ‘etat tṛṇamātraṁ mamāgrataḥ daha ; na cedasi dagdhuṁ samarthaḥ, muñca dagdhṛtvābhimānaṁ sarvatra’ ityuktaḥ tat tṛṇam upapreyāya tṛṇasamīpaṁ gatavān sarvajavena sarvotsāhakṛtena vegena । gatvā tat na śaśāka nāśakat dagdhum । saḥ jātavedāḥ tṛṇaṁ dagdhumaśakto vrīḍito hatapratijñaḥ tata eva yakṣādeva tūṣṇīṁ devānprati nivavṛte nivṛttaḥ pratigatavān na etat yakṣam aśakaṁ śaktavānahaṁ vijñātuṁ viśeṣataḥ yadetadyakṣamiti ॥
atha vāyumabruvan vāyavetadvijānīhi kimetadyakṣamiti tatheti ॥ 7 ॥
tadabhyadravattamabhyavadatko'sīti vāyurvā ahamasmītyabravīnmātariśvā vā ahamasmīti ॥ 8 ॥
tasmiṁstvayi kiṁ vīryamityapīdaṁ sarvamādadīya yadidaṁ pṛthivyāmiti ॥ 9 ॥
tasmai tṛṇaṁ nidadhāvetadādatsveti tadupapreyāya sarvajavena tanna śaśākādātuṁ sa tata eva nivavṛte naitadaśakaṁ vijñātuṁ yadetadyakṣamiti ॥ 10 ॥
atha anantaraṁ vāyumabruvan he vāyo etadvijānīhītyādi samānārthaṁ pūrveṇa । vānādgamanādgandhanādvā vāyuḥ । mātaryantarikṣe śvayatīti mātariśvā । idaṁ sarvamapi ādadīya gṛhṇīyām । yadidaṁ pṛthivyāmityādi samānameva ॥
athendramabruvanmaghavannetadvijānīhi kimetadyakṣamiti tatheti tadabhyadravattasmāttirodadhe ॥ 11 ॥
sa tasminnevākāśe striyamājagāma bahu śobhamānāmumāṁ haimavatīṁ tāṁ hovāca kimetadyakṣamiti ॥ 12 ॥
athendramabruvanmaghavannetadvijānīhītyādi pūrvavat । indraḥ parameśvaro maghavā balavattvāt tatheti tadabhyadravat । tasmāt indrādātmasamīpaṁ gatāt tadbrahma tirodadhe tirobhūtam । indrasyendratvābhimāno'titarāṁ nirākartavya ityataḥ saṁvādamātramapi nādādbrahmendrāya । tadyakṣaṁ yasminnākāśe ākāśapradeśe ātmānaṁ darśayitvā tirobhūtamindraśca brahmaṇastirodhānakāle yasminnākāśe āsīt , saḥ indraḥ tasminneva ākāśe tasthau kiṁ yadyakṣamiti dhyāyan ; na nivavṛte'gnyādivat । tasyendrasya yakṣe bhaktiṁ buddhvā vidyā umārūpiṇī prādurabhūtstrīrūpā । saḥ indraḥ tām umāṁ bahu śobhamānām ; sarveṣāṁ hi śobhamānānāṁ śobhanatamā vidyā । tadā bahu śobhamāneti viśeṣaṇamupapannaṁ bhavati । haimavatīṁ hemakṛtābharaṇavatīmiva bahu śobhamānāmityarthaḥ । athavā umaiva himavato duhitā haimavatī nityameva sarvajñeneśvareṇa saha vartata iti jñātuṁ samartheti kṛtvā tāmupajagāma । indraḥ tāṁ ha umāṁ kila uvāca papraccha brūhi kimetaddarśayitvā tirobhūtaṁ yakṣamiti ॥
