ॐ saha nāvavatu । saha nau bhunaktu । saha vīryaṁ karavāvahai । tejasvi nāvadhītamastu mā vidviṣāvahai ॥ ॐ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ॥
satyaṁ jñānamanantaṁ brahma ākāśādikāryamannamayāntaṁ sṛṣṭvā tadevānupraviṣṭaṁ viśeṣavadivopalabhyamānaṁ yasmāt , tasmāt sarvakāryavilakṣaṇam adṛśyādidharmakameva ānandaṁ tadevāhamiti vijānīyāt , anupraveśasya tadarthatvāt ; tasyaivaṁ vijānataḥ śubhāśubhe karmaṇī janmāntarārambhake na bhavataḥ ityevamānandavallyāṁ vivakṣito'rthaḥ । parisamāptā ca brahmavidyā । ataḥ paraṁ brahmavidyāsādhanaṁ tapo vaktavyam ; annādiviṣayāṇi ca upāsanānyanuktānītyataḥ idamārabhyate -
bhṛgurvai vāruṇiḥ । varuṇaṁ pitaramupasasāra । adhīhi bhagavo brahmeti । tasmā etatprovāca । annaṁ prāṇaṁ cakṣuḥ śrotraṁ mano vācamiti । taṁ hovāca । yato vā imāni bhūtāni jāyante । yena jātāni jīvanti । yatprayantyabhisaṁviśanti । tadvijijñāsasva । tadbrahmeti । sa tapo'tapyata । sa tapastaptvā ॥ 1 ॥
ākhyāyikā vidyāstutaye,
priyāya putrāya pitrokteti -
bhṛgurvai vāruṇiḥ ।
vai -
śabdaḥ prasiddhānusmārakaḥ,
bhṛgurityevaṁ nāmā prasiddho anusmāryate,
vāruṇiḥ varuṇasyāpatyaṁ vāruṇiḥ varuṇaṁ pitaraṁ brahma vijijñāsuḥ upasasāra upagatavān -
adhīhi bhagavo brahma ityanena mantreṇa ।
adhīhi adhyāpaya kathaya ।
sa ca pitā vidhivadupasannāya tasmai putrāya etat vacanaṁ provāca -
annaṁ prāṇaṁ cakṣuḥ śrotram mano vācam iti ।
annaṁ śarīraṁ tadabhyantaraṁ ca prāṇam attāram anantaramupalabdhisādhanāni cakṣuḥ śrotraṁ mano vācam ityetāni brahmopalabdhau dvārāṇyuktavān ।
uktvā ca dvārabhūtānyetānyannādīni taṁ bhṛguṁ hovāca brahmaṇo lakṣaṇam ।
kiṁ tat ?
yataḥ yasmāt vā imāni brahmādīni stambaparyantāni bhūtāni jāyante,
yena jātāni jīvanti prāṇāndhārayanti vardhante,
vināśakāle ca yatprayanti yadbrahma pratigacchanti,
abhisaṁviśanti tādātmyameva pratipadyante,
utpattisthitilayakāleṣu yadātmatāṁ na jahati bhūtāni,
tadetadbrahmaṇo lakṣaṇam ,
tadbrahma vijijñāsasva viśeṣeṇa jñātumicchasva ;
yadevaṁlakṣaṇaṁ brahma tadannādidvāreṇa pratipadyasvetyarthaḥ ।
śrutyantaraṁ ca -
‘prāṇasya prāṇamuta cakṣuṣaścakṣuruta śrotrasya śrotramannasyānnaṁ manaso ye mano viduste nicikyurbrahma purāṇamagryam’ (bṛ. u. 4 । 4 । 18) iti brahmopalabdhau dvārāṇyetānīti darśayati ।
sa bhṛguḥ brahmopalabdhidvārāṇi brahmalakṣaṇaṁ ca śrutvā pituḥ,
tapo brahmopalabdhisādhanatvena atapyata taptavān ।
kutaḥ punaranupadiṣṭasyaiva tapasaḥ sādhanatvapratipattirbhṛgoḥ ?
sāvaśeṣokteḥ ।
annādibrahmaṇaḥ pratipattau dvāraṁ lakṣaṇaṁ ca yato vā imāni ityādyuktavān ।
sāvaśeṣaṁ hi tat ,
sākṣādbrahmaṇo'nirdeśāt ।
anyathā hi svarūpeṇaiva brahma nirdeṣṭavyaṁ jijñāsave putrāya idamitthaṁrūpaṁ brahma iti ;
na caivaṁ niradiśat ;
kiṁ tarhi,
sāvaśeṣamevoktavān ।
ato'vagamyate nūnaṁ sādhanāntaramapyapekṣate pitā brahmavijñānaṁ pratīti ।
tapoviśeṣapratipattistu sarvasādhakatamatvāt ;
sarveṣāṁ hi niyatasādhyaviṣayāṇāṁ sādhanānāṁ tapa eva sādhakatamaṁ sādhanamiti hi prasiddhaṁ loke ।
tasmāt pitrā anupadiṣṭamapi brahmavijñānasādhanatvena tapaḥ pratipede bhṛguḥ ।
tacca tapo bāhyāntaḥkaraṇasamādhānam ,
taddvārakatvādbrahmapratipatteḥ, ‘
manasaścendriyāṇāṁ ca hyaikāgryaṁ paramaṁ tapaḥ ।
tajjyāyaḥ sarvadharmebhyaḥ sa dharmaḥ para ucyate’
iti smṛteḥ ।
sa ca tapastaptvā ॥
iti prathamānuvākabhāṣyam ॥
annaṁ brahmeti vyajānāt । annāddhyeva khalvimāni bhūtāni jāyante । annena jātāni jīvanti । annaṁ prayantyabhisaṁviśantīti । tadvijñāya । punareva varuṇaṁ pitaramupasasāra । adhīhi bhagavo brahmeti । taṁ hovāca । tapasā brahma vijijñāsasva । tapo brahmeti । sa tapo'tapyata । sa tapastaptvā ॥ 1 ॥
annaṁ brahmeti vyajānāt vijñātavān । taddhi yathoktalakṣaṇopetam । katham ? annāddhyeva khalu imāni bhūtāni jāyante । annena jātāni jīvanti । annaṁ prayantyabhisaṁviśantīti । tasmādyuktamannasya brahmatvamityabhiprāyaḥ । sa evaṁ tapastaptvā, annaṁ brahmeti vijñāya lakṣaṇena upapattyā ca punareva saṁśayamāpannaḥ varuṇaṁ pitaramupasasāra - adhīhi bhagavo brahmeti । kaḥ punaḥ saṁśayaheturasyeti, ucyate - annasyotpattidarśanāt । tapasaḥ punaḥ punarupadeśaḥ sādhanātiśayatvāvadhāraṇārthaḥ । yāvadbrahmaṇo lakṣaṇaṁ niratiśayaṁ na bhavati, yāvacca jijñāsā na nivartate, tāvattapa eva te sādhanam ; tapasaiva brahma vijijñāsasvetyarthaḥ । ṛjvanyat ॥
iti dvitīyānuvākabhāṣyam ॥

evaṁ tapasā viśuddhātmā prāṇādiṣu sākalyena brahmalakṣaṇamapaśyan śanaiḥ śanaiḥ antaranupraviśya antaratamamānandaṁ brahma vijñātavān tapasaiva sādhanena bhṛguḥ ; tasmāt brahma vijijñāsunā bāhyāntaḥkaraṇasamādhānalakṣaṇaṁ paramaṁ tapaḥ sādhanamanuṣṭheyamiti prakaraṇārthaḥ । adhunā ākhyāyikāṁ ca upasaṁhṛtya śrutiḥ svena vacanena ākhyāyikānirvartyamarthamācaṣṭe । saiṣā bhārgavī bhṛguṇā viditā varuṇena proktā vāruṇī vidyā parame vyoman hṛdayākāśaguhāyāṁ parame ānande advaite pratiṣṭhitā parisamāptā annamayādātmano'dhipravṛttā । ya evamanyo'pi tapasaiva sādhanena anenaiva krameṇa anupraviśya ānandaṁ brahma veda, sa evaṁ vidyāpratiṣṭhānāt pratitiṣṭhati ānande parame brahmaṇi, brahmaiva bhavatītyarthaḥ । dṛṣṭaṁ ca phalaṁ tasyocyate - annavān prabhūtamannamayasya vidyata ityannavān ; sattāmātreṇa tu sarvo hi annavāniti vidyāyā viśeṣo na syāt । evamannamattītyannādaḥ, dīptāgnirbhavatītyarthaḥ । mahānbhavati । kena mahattvamityata āha - prajayā putrādinā paśubhiḥ gavāśvādibhiḥ brahmavarcasena śamadamajñānādinimittena tejasā । mahānbhavati kīrtyā khyātyā śubhācāranimittayā ॥
iti ṣaṣṭhānuvākabhāṣyam ॥
annaṁ na nindyāt । tadvratam । prāṇo vā annam । śarīramannādam । prāṇe śarīraṁ pratiṣṭhitam । śarīre prāṇaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ । tadetadannamanne pratiṣṭhitam । sa ya etadannamanne pratiṣṭhitaṁ veda pratitiṣṭhati । annavānannādo bhavati । mahān bhavati । prajayā paśubhirbrahmavarcasena । mahān kīrtyā ॥ 1 ॥
kiṁ ca, annena dvārabhūtena brahma vijñātaṁ yasmāt , tasmāt gurumiva annaṁ na nindyāt ; tat asya evaṁ brahmavido vratam upadiśyate । vratopadeśo annastutaye, stutibhāktvaṁ ca annasya brahmopalabdhyupāyatvāt । prāṇo vā annam , śarīrāntarbhāvātprāṇasya । yat yasyāntaḥ pratiṣṭhitaṁ bhavati, tattasyānnaṁ bhavatīti । śarīre ca prāṇaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ, tasmāt prāṇo'nnaṁ śarīramannādam । tathā śarīramapyannaṁ prāṇo'nnādaḥ । kasmāt prāṇe śarīraṁ pratiṣṭhitam ? tannimittatvāccharīrasthiteḥ । tasmāt tadetat ubhayaṁ śarīraṁ prāṇaśca annamannādaśca । yenānyonyasminpratiṣṭhitaṁ tenānnam ; yenānyonyasya pratiṣṭhā tenānnādaḥ । tasmāt prāṇaḥ śarīraṁ ca ubhayamannamannādaṁ ca । sa ya evam etadannamanne pratiṣṭhitaṁ veda pratitiṣṭhati annānnādātmanaiva । kiṁ ca, annavānannādo bhavatītyādi pūrvavat ॥
iti saptamānuvākabhāṣyam ॥

annaṁ na paricakṣīta na pariharet । tadvrataṁ pūrvavatstutyartham । tadevaṁ śubhāśubhakalpanayā aparihrīyamāṇaṁ stutaṁ mahīkṛtamannaṁ syāt । evaṁ yathoktamuttareṣvapi āpo vā annam ityādiṣu yojayet ॥
iti aṣṭamānuvākabhāṣyam ॥
annaṁ bahu kurvīta । tadvratam । pṛthivī vā annam । ākāśo'nnādaḥ । pṛthivyāmākāśaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ । ākāśe pṛthivī pratiṣṭhitā । tadetadannamanne pratiṣṭhitam । sa ya etadannamanne pratiṣṭhitaṁ veda pratitiṣṭhati । annavānannādo bhavati । mahānbhavati । prajayā paśubhirbrahmavarcasena । mahānkīrtyā ॥
apsu jyotiḥ ityabjyotiṣorannānnādaguṇatvenopāsakasya annasya bahukaraṇaṁ vratam ॥
iti navamānuvākabhāṣyam ॥
na kañcana vasatau pratyācakṣīta । tadvratam । tasmādyayā kayā ca vidhayā bahvannaṁ prāpnuyāt । arādhyasmā annamityācakṣate । etadvai mukhato'nnaṁ rāddham । mukhato'smā annaṁ rādhyate । etadvai madhyato'nnaṁ rāddham । madhyato'smā annaṁ rādhyate । etadvā antato'nnaṁ rāddham । antato'smā annaṁ rādhyate ॥ 1 ॥
tathā pṛthivyākāśopāsakasya vasatau vasatinimittaṁ kañcana kañcidapi na pratyācakṣīta, vasatyarthamāgataṁ na nivārayedityarthaḥ । vāse ca datte avaśyaṁ hi aśanaṁ dātavyam । tasmādyayā kayā ca vidhayā yena kena ca prakāreṇa bahvannaṁ prāpnuyāt bahvannasaṅgrahaṁ kuryādityarthaḥ । yasmādannavanto vidvāṁsaḥ abhyāgatāya annārthine arādhi saṁsiddham asmai annam ityācakṣate, na nāstīti pratyākhyānaṁ kurvanti, tasmācca hetoḥ bahvannaṁ prāpnuyāditi pūrveṇa sambandhaḥ । api ca annadānasya māhātmyamucyate - yathā yatkālaṁ prayacchatyannam , tathā tatkālameva pratyupanamate । kathamiti tadetadāha - etadvai annaṁ mukhataḥ mukhye prathame vayasi mukhyayā vā vṛttyā pūjāpuraḥsaramabhyāgatāyānnārthine rāddhaṁ saṁsiddhaṁ prayacchatīti vākyaśeṣaḥ । tasya kiṁ phalaṁ syāditi, ucyate - mukhataḥ pūrve vayasi mukhyayā vā vṛttyā asmai annadāya annaṁ rādhyate ; yathādattamupatiṣṭhata ityarthaḥ । evaṁ madhyato madhyame vayasi madhyamena ca upacāreṇa ; tathā antataḥ ante vayasi jaghanyena ca upacāreṇa paribhavena tathaivāsmai rādhyate saṁsidhyatyannam ॥
ya evaṁ veda । kṣema iti vāci । yogakṣema iti prāṇāpānayoḥ । karmeti hastayoḥ । gatiriti pādayoḥ । vimuktiriti pāyau । iti mānuṣīḥ samājñāḥ । atha daivīḥ । tṛptiriti vṛṣṭau । balamiti vidyuti ॥ 2 ॥
ya evaṁ veda ya evamannasya yathoktaṁ māhātmyaṁ veda taddānasya ca phalam , tasya yathoktaṁ phalamupanamate । idānīṁ brahmaṇa upāsanaprakāraḥ ucyate - kṣema iti vāci । kṣemo nāma upāttaparirakṣaṇam । brahma vāci kṣemarūpeṇa pratiṣṭhitamityupāsyam । yogakṣema iti, yogaḥ anupāttasyopādānam । tau hi yogakṣemau prāṇāpānayoḥ balavatoḥ satorbhavataḥ yadyapi, tathāpi na prāṇāpānanimittāveva ; kiṁ tarhi, brahmanimittau । tasmādbrahma yogakṣemātmanā prāṇāpānayoḥ pratiṣṭhitamityupāsyam । evamuttareṣvanyeṣu tena tena ātmanā brahmaivopāsyam । karmaṇo brahmanirvartyatvāt hastayoḥ karmātmanā brahma pratiṣṭhitamityupāsyam । gatiriti pādayoḥ । vimuktiriti pāyau । ityetā mānuṣīḥ manuṣyeṣu bhavā mānuṣyāḥ samājñāḥ, ādhyātmikyaḥ samājñā jñānāni vijñānānyupāsanānītyarthaḥ । atha anantaraṁ daivīḥ daivyaḥ deveṣu bhavāḥ samājñā ucyante । tṛptiriti vṛṣṭau । vṛṣṭerannādidvāreṇa tṛptihetutvādbrahmaiva tṛptyātmanā vṛṣṭau vyavasthitamityupāsyam ; tathā anyeṣu tena tenātmanā brahmaivopāsyam । tathā balarūpeṇa vidyuti ॥
yaśa iti paśuṣu । jyotiriti nakṣatreṣu । prajātiramṛtamānanda ityupasthe । sarvamityākāśe । tatpratiṣṭhetyupāsīta । pratiṣṭhāvān bhavati । tanmaha ityupāsīta । mahān bhavati । tanmana ityupāsīta । mānavān bhavati ॥ 3 ॥
yaśorūpeṇa paśuṣu । jyotīrūpeṇa nakṣatreṣu । prajātiḥ amṛtam amṛtatvaprāptiḥ putreṇa ṛṇavimokṣadvāreṇa ānandaḥ sukhamityetatsarvamupasthanimittaṁ brahmaiva anenātmanā upasthe pratiṣṭhitamityupāsyam । sarvaṁ hi ākāśe pratiṣṭhitam ; ato yatsarvamākāśe tadbrahmaivetyupāsyam ; taccākāśaṁ brahmaiva । tasmāt tat sarvasya pratiṣṭhetyupāsīta । pratiṣṭhāguṇopāsanāt pratiṣṭhāvān bhavati । evaṁ sarveṣvapi । yadyatrādhigataṁ phalam , tat brahmaiva ; tadupāsanāttadvānbhavatīti draṣṭavyam ; śrutyantarācca - ‘taṁ yathā yathopāsate tadeva bhavati’ iti । tanmaha ityupāsīta । mahaḥ mahattvaguṇavat tadupāsīta । mahānbhavati । tanmana ityupāsīta । mananaṁ manaḥ । mānavānbhavati mananasamartho bhavati ॥
tannama ityupāsīta । namyante'smai kāmāḥ । tadbrahmetyupāsīta । brahmavān bhavati । tadbrahmaṇaḥ parimara ityupāsīta । paryeṇaṁ mriyante dviṣantaḥ sapatnāḥ । pari ye'priyā bhrātṛvyāḥ । sa yaścāyaṁ puruṣe । yaścāsāvāditye । sa ekaḥ ॥ 4 ॥
tannama ityupāsīta namanaṁ namaḥ namanaguṇavat tadupāsīta । namyante prahvībhavanti asmai upāsitre kāmāḥ kāmyanta iti bhogyā viṣayā ityarthaḥ । tadbrahmetyupāsīta । brahma paribṛḍhatamamityupāsīta । brahmavān tadguṇo bhavati । tadbrahmaṇaḥ parimara ityupāsīta brahmaṇaḥ parimaraḥ parimriyante'sminpañca devatā vidyudvṛṣṭiścandramā ādityo'gnirityetāḥ । ataḥ vāyuḥ parimaraḥ, śrutyantaraprasiddheḥ । sa evāyaṁ vāyurākāśenānanya ityākāśo brahmaṇaḥ parimaraḥ ; tasmādākāśaṁ vāyvātmānaṁ brahmaṇaḥ parimara ityupāsīta । enam evavidaṁ pratispardhino dviṣantaḥ ; adviṣanto'pi sapatnā yato bhavanti, ato viśeṣyante dviṣantaḥ sapatnā iti । enaṁ dviṣantaḥ sapatnāḥ te parimriyante prāṇān jahati । kiṁ ca, ye ca apriyā asya bhrātṛvyā adviṣanto'pi te ca parimriyante ॥
‘
prāṇo vā annaṁ śarīramannādam’
ityārabhya ākāśāntasya kāryasyaiva annānnādatvamuktam ।
uktaṁ nāma -
kiṁ tena ?
tenaitatsiddhaṁ bhavati -
kāryaviṣaya eva bhojyabhoktṛtvakṛtaḥ saṁsāraḥ,
na tvātmanīti ।
ātmani tu bhrāntyā upacaryate ।
nanvātmāpi paramātmanaḥ kāryam ,
tato yuktaḥ tasya saṁsāra iti ;
na,
asaṁsāriṇa eva praveśaśruteḥ ।
‘tatsṛṣṭvā tadevānuprāviśat’ (tai. u. 2 । 6 । 1) ityākāśādikāraṇasya hi asaṁsāriṇa eva paramātmanaḥ kāryeṣvanupraveśaḥ śrūyate ।
tasmātkāryānupraviṣṭo jīva ātmā para eva asaṁsārī ;
sṛṣṭvā anuprāviśaditi samānakartṛtvopapatteśca ।
sargapraveśakriyayoścaikaścetkartā,
tataḥ ktvāpratyayo yuktaḥ ।
praviṣṭasya tu bhāvāntarāpattiriti cet ,
na ;
praveśasyānyārthatvena pratyākhyātatvāt ।
‘anena jīvena ātmanā’ (chā. u. 6 । 3 । 2)iti viśeṣaśruteḥ dharmāntareṇānupraveśa iti cet ,
na ; ‘
tat satyam’ ‘
sa ātmā’
‘tat tvamasi’ (chā. u. 6 । 8 । 16) iti sāmānādhikaraṇyāt ।
dṛṣṭaṁ jīvasya saṁsāritvamiti cet ,
na ;
upalabdhuranupalabhyatvāt ।
saṁsāradharmaviśiṣṭa ātmopalabhyata iti cet ,
na ;
dharmāṇāṁ dharmiṇo'vyatirekāt karmatvānupapatteḥ ।
uṣṇaprakāśayordāhyaprakāśyatvānupapattivat trāsādidarśanādduḥkhitvādyanumīyata iti cet ,
na ;
trāsāderduḥkhasya ca upalabhyamānatvāt nopalabdhṛdharmatvam ।
kāpilakāṇādāditarkaśāstravirodha iti cet ,
na ;
teṣāṁ mūlābhāve vedavirodhe ca bhrāntatvopapatteḥ ।
śrutyupapattibhyāṁ ca siddham ātmano'saṁsāritvam ,
ekatvācca ।
kathamekatvamiti,
ucyate -
sa yaścāyaṁ puruṣe yaścāsāvāditye sa ekaḥ ityevamādi pūrvavatsarvam ॥
sa ya evaṁvit । asmāllokātpretya । etamannamayamātmānamupasaṅkramya । etaṁ prāṇamayamātmānamupasaṅkramya । etaṁ manomayamātmānamupasaṅkramya । etaṁ vijñānamayamātmānamupasaṅkramya । etamānandamayamātmānamupasaṅkramya । imāṁllokānkāmānnī kāmarūpyanusañcaran । etatsāma gāyannāste । hā3vu hā3vu hā3vu ॥ 5 ॥
annamayādikrameṇa ānandamayamātmānamupasaṅkramya etatsāma gāyannāste । ‘
satyaṁ jñānam’
ityasyā ṛcaḥ arthaḥ vyākhyātaḥ vistareṇa tadvivaraṇabhūtayā ānandavallyā ।
‘so'śnute sarvānkāmānsaha brahmaṇā vipaścitā’ (tai. u. 2 । 1 । 1) iti tasya phalavacanasya arthavistāro noktaḥ ।
ke te ?
kiṁviṣayā vā sarve kāmāḥ ?
kathaṁ vā brahmaṇā saha samaśnute ? -
ityetadvaktavyamitīdamidānīmārabhyate ।
tatra pitāputrākhyāyikāyāṁ pūrvavidyāśeṣabhūtāyāṁ tapaḥ brahmavidyāsādhanamuktam ।
prāṇāderākāśāntasya ca kāryasya annānnādatvena viniyogaśca uktaḥ ;
brahmaviṣayopāsanāni ca ।
ye ca sarve kāmāḥ pratiniyatānekasādhanasādhyā ākāśādikāryabhedaviṣayāḥ,
ete darśitāḥ ।
ekatve punaḥ kāmakāmitvānupapattiḥ,
bhedajātasya sarvasya ātmabhūtatvāt ।
tatra kathaṁ yugapadbrahmasvarūpeṇa sarvānkāmān evaṁvitsamaśnuta iti,
ucyate -
sarvātmatvopapatteḥ ।
kathaṁ sarvātmatvopapattiriti,

puruṣādityasthātmaikatvavijñānenāpohyotkarṣāpakarṣāvannamayādīnātmano'vidyākalpitān krameṇa saṅkramya ānandamayāntān satyaṁ jñānamanantaṁ brahma adṛśyādidharmakaṁ svābhāvikamānandamajamamṛtamabhayamadvaitaṁ phalabhūtamāpannaḥ imaṅllokānbhūrādīnanusañcaranniti vyavahitena sambandhaḥ ।
kathamanusañcaran ?
kāmānnī kāmato'nnamasyeti kāmānnī ;
tathā kāmato rūpāṇyasyeti kāmarūpī ;
anusañcaran sarvātmanā imān lokānātmatvena anubhavan ।

etatsāma gāyannāste ।
samatvādbrahmaiva sāma sarvānanyarūpaṁ gāyan śabdayan ātmaikatvaṁ prakhyāpayan lokānugrahārthaṁ tadvijñānaphalaṁ ca atīva kṛtārthatvaṁ gāyan āste tiṣṭhati ।

aho ityetasminnarthe'tyantavismayakhyāpanārtham ॥
kaḥ punarasau vismaya iti, ucyate -
ahamannamahamannamahamannam । ahamannādo3'hamannādo3'hamannādaḥ । ahaṁ ślokakṛdahaṁ ślokakṛdahaṁ ślokakṛt । ahamasmi prathamajā ṛtā3sya । pūrvaṁ devebhyo'mṛtasya nā3bhāyi । yo mā dadāti sa ideva mā3vāḥ । ahamannamannamadantamā3dmi । ahaṁ viśvaṁ bhuvanamabhyabhavā3m । suvarna jyotīḥ । ya evaṁ veda । ityupaniṣat ॥ 6 ॥
advaita ātmā nirañjano'pi san ahamevānnamannādaśca । kiñca, ahameva ślokakṛt । śloko nāma annānnādayoḥ saṅghātaḥ, tasya kartā cetanāvān । annasyaiva vā parārthasya annādārthasya sato'nekātmakasya pārārthyena hetunā saṅghātakṛt । triruktiḥ vismayatvakhyāpanārthā । ahamasmi bhavāmi । prathamajāḥ prathamajaḥ prathamotpannaḥ । ṛtasya satyasya mūrtāmūrtasyāsya jagato devebhyaśca pūrvamamṛtasya nābhiḥ amṛtatvasya nābhiḥ, madhyaṁ matsaṁstham amṛtatvaṁ prāṇināmityarthaḥ । yaḥ kaścit mā mām annamannārthibhyo dadāti prayacchati - annātmanā bravīti, saḥ it itthamevetyarthaḥ, evamavinaṣṭaṁ yathābhūtaṁ mām āvā avatītyarthaḥ । yaḥ punaranyo māmadatvā arthibhyaḥ kāle prāpte'nnamatti tamannamadantaṁ bhakṣayantaṁ puruṣamahamannameva saṁpratyadmi bhakṣayāmi । atrāha - evaṁ tarhi bibhemi sarvātmatvaprāptermokṣāt ; astu saṁsāra eva, yato mukto'pyaham annabhūtaḥ adyaḥ syām anyasya । evaṁ mā bhaiṣīḥ ; saṁvyavahāraviṣayatvāt sarvakāmāśanasya ; atītyāyaṁ saṁvyavahāraviṣayamannānnādādilakṣaṇamavidyākṛtaṁ vidyayā brahmatvamāpannaḥ vidvān ; tasya naiva dvitīyaṁ vastvantaramasti, yato bibheti ; ato na bhetavyaṁ mokṣāt । evaṁ tarhi kimidamāha - ahamannamahamannāda iti ? ucyate । yo'yamannānnādādilakṣaṇaḥ saṁvyavahāraḥ kāryabhūtaḥ, sa saṁvyavahāramātrameva ; na paramārthavastu । sa evaṁbhūto'pi brahmanimitto brahmavyatirekeṇāsanniti kṛtvā brahmavidyākāryasya brahmabhāvasya stutyarthamucyate - ‘ahamannamahamannamahamannam । ahamannādo'hamannādo'hamannādaḥ’ ityādi । ataḥ bhayādidoṣagandho'pi avidyānimittaḥ avidyocchedādbrahmabhūtasya nāstīti । ahaṁ viśvaṁ samastaṁ bhuvanaṁ bhūtaiḥ sambhajanīyaṁ brahmādibhirbhavantīti vā asmin bhūtānīti bhuvanam abhyabhavām abhibhavāmi pareṇeśvareṇa svarūpeṇa । suvarna jyotīḥ suvaḥ ādityaḥ ; nakāra upamārthe ; āditya iva sakṛdvibhātamasmadīyaṁ jyotīḥ jyotiḥ, prakāśa ityarthaḥ । iti vallīdvayavihitā upaniṣat paramātmajñānam ; tāmetāṁ yathoktāmupaniṣadaṁ śānto dānta uparatastitikṣuḥ samāhito bhūtvā bhṛguvat tapo mahadāsthāya ya evaṁ veda, tasyedaṁ phalaṁ yathoktamokṣa iti ॥

iti śrīmatparamahaṁsaparivrājakācāryasya śrīgovindabhagavatpūjyapādaśiṣyasya śrīmacchaṅkarabhagavataḥ kṛtau taittirīyopaniṣadbhāṣye bhṛguvallībhāṣyaṁ sampūrṇam ॥
